Two of the strongest open models of the autumn are now live on PrivateMind. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash for fast reasoning and coding, and Xiaomi's MiMo V2.6 Pro for long agent runs. You can use them in chat now, or through the API by changing the model name.

DeepSeek V4.1 Flash: fast reasoning and coding

DeepSeek released V4.1 Flash in September and an updated version on 17th October with V4.1 Flash 1017. In DeepSeek's own words, "reduces task execution time and output length". The model has about 552 billion parameters, with 16 billion active for each token, which keeps it quick for its size.

What it's good at:

  1. Reasoning you can dial up or down. You choose how much thinking it does, from off to low, high or max. Use "off" or "low" for quick answers and extraction, and "high" or "max" for hard problems.
  2. Coding and agent work. DeepSeek tuned the October update for agent tools, and its own figures show big gains on Terminal-Bench and software engineering tests.
  3. Shorter answers. Fewer tokens for the same result means lower cost and faster replies, which adds up quickly for agents that make many calls.

The point most firms care about: DeepSeek's own service runs in China. On PrivateMind the same open model runs in our Datacentres, so you get the model without sending data outside of your control. MiMo V2.6 Pro: built for long agent runs

MiMo is Xiaomi's model family, and V2.6 Pro, released in September under the MIT licence. On the independent Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index it scored about 46, the highest of any open model at the time, just ahead of GLM 5.3 and Kimi K3. It is a large mixture-of-experts model, with about 1.02 trillion parameters and 42 billion active per token. Its strength is staying on track over long, multi-step tasks: calling tools, checking results and carrying on without losing the thread. That makes it a good fit for agents that work through a job in dozens of steps, such as research, data checks or coding tasks.

Which model for which job

PrivateMind now runs a wider set of open models, a simple guide below to get started:

Job Try first
Quick answers, extraction, summaries Qwen 3.8
Hard reasoning Kimi K3, or DeepSeek V4.1 Flash on high
Coding agents GLM 5.3 or DeepSeek V4.1 Flash
Long agent runs with many tool calls MiMo V2.6 Pro
Documents, forms and images Nemotron 3.5 Super VL, olmOCR

Both new models handle up to 500,000 tokens of context on PrivateMind, support tool calling and structured JSON output, and can run as batch jobs at half price.

Using them

In chat, pick the model from the list. Through the API, set the model name to deepseek-v4-1- flash or mimo-v2-6-pro. If your code already works with OpenAI's API, nothing else changes.

import os
from openai import OpenAI

client = OpenAI( base_url=“https://api.privatemind.com/v1”, api_key=os.environ[“PMIND_KEY”], )

reply = client.chat.completions.create( model=“mimo-v2-6-pro”, messages=[ {“role”: “user”, “content”: “Plan the steps to reconcile these two trade files.”} ], )

print(reply.choices[0].message.content)

PrivateMind

New open models arrive every few weeks, and they keep getting better and better. We benchmark models, offer zero day support and make them available through the same chat, API and controls you already use. Admins choose which models their teams can use, and every request can be traced via a compliance API. Try DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and MiMo V2.6 Pro today with $10 of free usage each month at privatemind.com
